Your day: 10.30-11am: A warm welcome with tea and homemade goodies; time to settle in. 11am-12.15pm: 75 minutes of a gentle yoga flow and breath-work practice. Chair support is provided for those who need/want it and the practice will be adapted so that everyone can join in. 12.15-1.15pm: A 'pot-luck' lunch. Bring a dish of your choice to share with others. Make friends over food. 1.15-2pm: 45 minutes of a relaxing restorative yoga practice and yoga nidra. 2-3pm: 1 hour of a healing sound journey with Sam Tinton. 3-3.30pm: Afternoon tea with more homemade goodies. Goodbyes. The yoga practice: Whether on the mat or the chair, gentle movement and breath-work at a manageable pace encourage improved mobility and reconnection with the self. Through still postures supported by props, restorative yoga and yoga nidra invite in a sense of rest and relaxation. The sound-healing journey: Sam Tinton will be using her gong and other forms of sound to capture your imagination and send you off on a musical meander. The overall effect is one of relaxation. Throughout the session you will naturally go into a meditative state as the sounds/vibrations slow down your brain waves. This effortlessly shifts you out of the 'beta' state, where we tend to be most of the time with our busy thoughts, and into a slower state where you will be resting but awake, maybe daydreaming, or even accessing a different level of awareness. There can also be a proven detoxification effect from receiving the sounds and vibrations. Your body and mind will respond in the way that you need at the time so your experience will be your own. Should you prefer to be seated in a chair for the session this is fine; the effects are the same, the only difference being is that some people can drift off to sleep which makes lying on the floor more supportive. Contraindications for receiving sound healing: Those who are pregnant or have a pace-maker. Please contact me if you are in doubt about whether you should receive this practice. Please bring your own yoga mat, blanket and any other equipment and clothing for your comfort. Your body temperature may drop during the restorative yoga and sound healing journey as you relax more deeply, so bring layers to make sure you can adapt throughout. For lunch please bring one dish of your choice to share with the group. A lovely way to create community and make friends.
